Hotel Review: Templation, Siem Reap
/Siem Reap is one of the world’s most impressive destinations. Featuring ancient temples and other-worldly landscapes, visiting Cambodia’s most famous city is like entering a different era in time altogether. It’s only fitting that when staying in Siem Reap, you stay in a place that is as impressive as its attractions.
There are a handful of great accommodation options out there, so I’m going to go into depth about one of the most-talked about resorts in the city – Templation. Should you stay at Templation? Let’s find out.
About Templation (Siem Reap)
Templation was created with rest, relaxation and restoration in mind. Nestled in lush tropical greenery and with an alluring feeling of serenity floating through, Templation is a private oasis in the middle of an ancient temple universe.
Featuring 50 rooms - most with private pools - staying in Templation means you have the option of staying in a one, two or three-bedroom private pool villas, a junior suite or a jungloo glamping bungalow.
Its modern, minimalist-style type architecture works in direct juxtaposition to the ornate, intricate temples of Siem Reap, and results in a unique but visually appealing marriage of styles.
Getting to Templation
Siem Reap’s airport is only a 15-20-minute taxi ride away from Templation. This makes for a quick and hassle-free airport transfer. Although you could arrange this independently by using a taxi at the airport, I would recommend contacting the team at Templation for the most convenient option.
A hotel transfer costs 20USD for a mini-van for up to 6 people (especially useful if you have a number of large luggage bags, like us).
Templation’s location is very conveniently placed, as it is just at the gates of the Angkor Archaeological Park – making it super close to attractions such as Angkor Wat, Preah Khan, Ta Prohm and more.
My room at Templation
I stayed at the One-Bedroom Villa with a Private Pool, and had high expectations. The property is almost perfectly reviewed across many platforms, and widely regarded as one of the best resorts in Siem Reap, after all! Despite this, my expectations were exceeded.
Although I had expected a one-bedroom villa, there was actually another room – a living room! So in my villa there was a bedroom, a living room, and a beautiful private pool.
Decked out in cosy wooden architecture and sleek concrete design, I fell in love with the modernism of the design. Of course, I more than enjoyed using the pool every night and cooling down after a hot day of sightseeing the temples.
The outdoor bathroom concept was also a very unique one. It took a while to adjust at first, but by the end of my stay, I loved the feeling of connecting with nature.
All in all, I absolutely enjoyed staying in my room at Templation!
Food and Beverage
Templation’s main restaurant is located just footsteps away from the alluring hotel pool, which has been designed like a secret lake. It’s here that you’ll get to enjoy your welcome drinks, tasty breakfast, refreshment and meals.
The restaurant was a great place to just chill out and enjoy the delicious food, but my highlight was actually enjoying a private floating breakfast in my villa. To do the same, simply inform a staff member during breakfast that you would like to request this experience – it’s definitely worth it!
What I loved about Templation’s buffet breakfast is that the portions are just right – not too large, not too small. This meant that I was able to try a greater variety of foods without feeling too full too quickly.

Facilities & Other Activities
There are plenty of surprises around Templation’s green hotel grounds, of which I’ll run through you now.
Templation is also home to Fleuraison Spa, which specialises in a variety of treatements such as aroma therapy, facial and body scrubs, Khmer, Scandinavian or Thai-style massages at a relatively affordable price.
We’ve already covered off on the gorgeous main pool (which is one of the largest in the SIem Reap area), but just on the left edge of the pool, you’ll find the Floating Sala – a perfect venue for you just to relax, have a drink and soak in the sun.
Other unique aspects include the Angkor Database Library, Cambomania Shop, and The Grand Room.
The fitness centre here is quaint, but perfect for a quick workout. With its idyllic location amongst the flower bushes and trees, I really enjoyed my peaceful workouts here. Templation also hosts yoga sessions every Saturday from 5 to 6pm.
Staff
From the friendly driver who picked me up from the airport, right through to the staff upon check-out - the staff at Templation were all extremely friendly and helpful. The service here is truly top notch, and I felt completely taken care of start to finish.
I needed help organising a tuk-tuk to Kampong Phluk Floating Village and to catch the sunset over there, and I was able to use a tuk-tuk driver associated with the hotel. My day with the driver was amazing (would highly recommend you also visit this stunning floating village), and I have to thank the hotel for helping me organise this.
Final Verdict – Should you stay at Templation?
This was my first time in Cambodia, and my stay at Templation made my visit all the more memorable. I would say you should definitely stay at Templation when visiting Siem Reap.
Although this is not an accommodation for travellers on a tight budget, staying here is completely worth it thanks to its luxurious villas, private pool, delicious food and world-class service. All in all – yes, I would recommend staying at Templation.
