Hotel Review: SANSUI NISEKO
/As one of Niseko’s newest and most impressive hotels, SANSUI NISEKO offers an exciting blend of luxury, nature, and Japanese culture. Our stay here was nothing short of extraordinary, with highlights that ranged from the awe-inspiring views of Mount Yotei to the incredible culinary experience at their Michelin-starred Sushi Shin by Miyakawa.
The pièce de résistance? Staying at the breathtaking Yotei Penthouse, complete with its private onsen overlooking Mount Yotei. This is more than just a hotel- it’s a destination in itself.
Getting to SANSUI NISEKO
Reaching SANSUI NISEKO is both convenient and scenic, whether you choose to travel by car or train.
By Car: Located approximately 110km from New Chitose Airport, the drive takes around two hours under normal conditions, or slightly longer during the winter season. For those arriving at Kutchan station, SANSUI NISEKO is just 8km away, and the hotel can arrange a private transfer for seamless pick-up and drop-off.
By Train: The JR train service connects key locations such as New Chitose Airport, Sapporo, and Hakodateto Kutchan station, offering a comfortable and picturesque journey. From there, the hotel’s car service ensures you arrive at your destination with ease.
We personally drove from Otaru, a journey of just over an hour, making it an easy connection to the hotel. The drive to Lake Toya took only 50 minutes, adding to the convenience of planning onward destinations.
SANSUI NISEKO’s location, perched high on Niseko’s main street, is ideal for exploring nearby ski and snowboard slopes or accessing local amenities.
Our Room at SANSUI NISEKO
Our stay gave us the opportunity to explore two incredible accommodation options: the Deluxe One-Bedroom Suite and the crown jewel of the property, the Yotei Penthouse.
The Deluxe One-Bedroom Suite offered a cozy yet luxurious retreat with sweeping views of Mount Yotei.
The Yotei Penthouse, however, elevated our experience to a whole new level. This stunning four-bedroom masterpiece boasts a panoramic living and dining area, a fully-equipped island kitchen, and not one but two onsens.
Our favourite feature was undoubtedly the panoramic onsen overlooking Mount Yotei. Soaking in the warm waters while gazing at the majestic mountain was an experience we’ll never forget. The sleek, futuristic design and high-end kitchen appliances further added to the sense of indulgence and comfort.
The four-bedroom penthouse was a little large for just us two – but we could imagine this to be the perfect space for families and friends.
Dining at SANSUI NISEKO
If there’s one aspect of SANSUI NISEKO that left a mark on us, it’s the dining experience. During our stay, we had the privilege of dining at Sushi Shin by Miyakawa, and words cannot fully capture how exceptional it was.
Chef Miyakawa and his team took us on an unforgettable journey through Japan with their omakase menu. Each dish, crafted with precision and care, represented a different region of Japan - Kyushu, Okinawa, Shikoku, and more. It wasn’t just a meal; it was an exploration of Japan’s culinary history, delivered in the form of the freshest and most exquisite sushi and sashimi we’ve ever tasted.
In the mornings, we enjoyed beautifully crafted bento box breakfasts from Dining by LUPICIA, offering fresh and photogenic dishes that perfectly complemented the autumn season. Sitting by the window, savouring these meals while taking in the views of Mount Yotei, was an experience to cherish.
