Hotel Review: Regent Taipei

As one of Taipei’s leading hotels, the Regent Taipei has been a favourite with both locals and international tourists for many years. The Regent Taipei showcases an intricate blend of east and west, with elegance and class at the forefront at all times - so I was looking forward to staying here.
What was staying at the Regent Taipei like? Read on to find out!
Featuring 60 lavish suites and 470 beautifully decorated rooms, a heated rooftop pool, a connecting shopping mall and a plethora of dining options, it’s fair to say that I had high expectations – but did my stay at the Regent Taipei match these expectations? The Regent Taipei is a classic 5-star hotel with a modern twist. Walking around the hotel grounds, you’ll find that the hotel has been decorated with class, elegance and luxury in mind.

More than just your standard hotel, the Regent Taipei is also home to the Regent Galleria, a large luxury shopping centre housing brands such as Chanel, Hermes, Bulgari, Louis Vuitton, Harry Winston and more.
Getting to Regent Taipei
Depending on where you’re coming from, the Regent Taipei is easily reached using Taipei’s MRT system. In particular, the Zhongshan station is about a 5-minute walk from the hotel.
The Regent Taipei is a well-known hotel in the city, so if you’re coming by taxi or Uber, you shouldn’t have any problems either. Airport transfer can also be arranged by the hotel.

Floor to ceiling windows? A city view? Asher is happy.
I stayed in a King Corner Room and the first thing I noticed immediately was the view. Featuring floor to ceiling windows and a breathtaking view of the Taipei skyline, my eyes were drawn to the impressive Taipei 101 building in the background.

My room at the Regent was extremely spacious, comfy and luxurious. I loved the decadent way the room had been designed, the comfortable beds and lounge area – perfect for taking in the panorama around me.

Moving into the bathroom, I really enjoyed the shower room and big bathtub, and that the toilet was in basically a separate room. Overall, I loved my room and looked forward to coming back every day to the hotel!

Food and Beverage at the Regent Taipei

There were so many dining options at the Regent Taipei, I was spoiled for choice!

Choices, choices, choices. So much to choose from at the Brasserie.
Starting with Brasserie, this is where the Regent Taipei’s famous breakfast buffet and all-day dining takes place. I loved the open spaces of this venue, and the spread during breakfast was always something I looked forward to checking out.

With a mix of Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Western food on display, I was always fully satisfied with my morning meal here.

Azie is the Regent’s restaurant located at the centre of the atrium structure, and it serves contemporary Asian and Western cuisine. I enjoyed a lunch here and among other dishes, recommend trying the beef noodle soup. The food overall was very, very high quality.

The Mihan Honke is a traditional Japanese restaurant that features the shabu shabu, robatayaki and kaiseki styles of Japanese cuisine. This is a renowned restaurant that draws diners from all over the country.

There are also other dining options on offer – Robin’s Grill, Robin’s Teppanyaki and Silks House present even more culinary experiences for guests at the Regent.
Facilities, Hotel Grounds & Other Activities

Guests at the Regent can also experience a wide variety of facilities and other activities, so let me run you through some of them.
Fitness centre at Regent Taipei.
The Wellspring Spa is the hotel’s resident wellness centre, where you can indulge in a range of massage and wellness treatments. At the Health Club, you can also enjoy using the sauna or getting your workout on at the gym.
The gym equipment here was extremely comprehensive.
The gym at the Regent Taipei is one of the most extensive hotel fitness centres I’ve ever had the pleasure to use, so definitely take advantage of this if you’re planning on staying here!

A personal favourite, the hotel also boasts a heated rooftop swimming pool with a breathtaking view of Taipei 101 and the rest of the city skyline. This was perfect for unwinding after a long day (especially on a cold day, as the pool was heated). When I stayed, the hotel also played nightly movies on a big screen which was a nice touch.

Most 5-star hotels feature just one lounge for lounge-access guests, but the Regent Taipei offers two – the Tai Pan Lounge, and the Balcony Lounge. Both are decorated uniquely from each other and offer different vibes. I really enjoyed checking out at the Tai Pan Lounge in particular.

I’ve previously touched upon the Regent Galleria, but I also wanted to highlight that the hotel offers its VIP members a “Shopping Butler Service”, which allows guests to enjoy benefits such as exclusive showrooms, guided tours, shopping discounts and personalised deliveries. It was really convenient having a shopping mall connected as part of the hotel, and I enjoyed walking around and seeing all these amazing stores as well.

Finally, I visited during the lead up to Valentine’s Day and the atrium area was decked out in Valentine’s Day market stalls, which was definitely a thoughtful touch. The Regent Taipei changes up its decorations and festivities regularly, so keep an eye out when you visit.

Staff
There’s this pretty pagoda-like structure that I noticed when I was eating breakfast, and it made for a pretty cool photography spot.
The staff at the Regent Taipei were efficient, helpful and friendly. The hotel features hundreds of rooms, so understandably, the lobby is always buzzing with people coming in and out, and staff at the front desk can get quite busy.
Still, the staff found time to help me with any of my questions at all times and were quick to respond to any queries.
Final Verdict – Should I stay at the Regent Taipei?
So how was my stay at the Regent Taipei?
There are many things to like about the Regent Taipei, and it’s easy to see why it is so popular and one of the marquee hotels in the entire country.
Chilling out by the pool.
I adored staying in a room with such a gorgeous view, and loved having an MRT station so close by - making it easier for me to do sightseeing. My favourite things about staying at the Regent Taipei were definitely the rooftop heated swimming pool and the comprehensive fitness centre. These are two really unique aspects that you don’t find in a lot of hotels in Taipei.

I cannot wait to visit again one day – so yes, you should definitely stay at the Regent Taipei if you’re headed to Taipei City!
